| History |
This tractor was donated to the museum by Frank Hayward who became a member of the
museum shortly after it opened in 1993. Frank is now curator of the museum.
Originally this tractor was owned by a retired farmer in Armadale who brought it from a
farm in Cunderdin.
Frank and has wife Joy, had a long farming career in the Quairading district where he got
to know tractors fairly well and perhaps difficult times caused him to get to know them
even better. This certainly was the case during the war which brought about the need to
find alternative fuels such as the adaption of charcoal gas for use with tractors and
other farm vehicles.
On retirement, Frank continued to do up tractors for profit and as a hobby and during this
period he decided to try building a charcoal gas producer. His first effort was fitted to
an Austin car which he used to drive around his home in Serpentine. His next effort was
the model we see fitted to this tractor.

| Restoration |
Restoration of the tractor itself involved a complete reconditioning of the radiator,
top overhaul, new head gasket, some panel beating and a complete paint job, including the
lettering which he did by hand.
The engine and transmission were in good condition. |
